SEO specialists are like puppeteers, we pull the string no one sees to get your website noticed. SEO is an acronym for Search Engine Optimization. SEO, in short, means how to improve one’s placement on search engines, like Google.
When you do a Google search for a new website, many of them will be found on the tenth or further page. Through the process of SEO, your website will gain in rankings. This will give you better exposure to potential clients organically, meaning not through paid ads. Paid ads are a way to get that “now” exposure, as you wait for SEO to do its magic.

What used to be called spiders 🕷️ , now more often referred to as web crawlers, “crawl” through the coding, the background no one sees. The crawlers collect data from your website, in text/coding form, because website crawlers don’t have eyes. They have to rely on the data given in the background to understand and know what your website is about. Giving the crawlers the correct formatting and correct information is what SEO is all about. Then they relay that information back to the search engines to rank and score your website against other websites. This is why I refer Search Engine Optimization as a “popularity contest”. Your website could be great and even better than the other websites that are ranking on Google’s first page within your keyword terms, but yours might be lacking the “background” info needed to allow the crawlers to rank (index) your website within that search term.
A website without the proper background information might not even be indexed or crawled. Search engines like Google, crawl through your site to get information as to what your website is about, where to rank you, and will validate whether your website is a legit website. The search engine crawlers look at a number of different things to validate whether your website is a valuable one for the World Wide Web. "Why Does Website Ranking Matter?".
To break it down even further SEO is how you can get your websites ranked higher on search engines within your website’s genre.
